The VPSL was formed in 2018-2019 season and Villarreal Virginia Academy was one of the initial founding members from the Virginia Premier League, a U.S. Club Soccer league in Virginia which was a club to club model with like minded clubs from the state of Virginia with an emphasis on a quality and positive game day experience for the players.  

The league still operates in the same manner and has expanded to have like minded clubs compete in an extremely competitive club to club model in the state of Virginia.  State winners from U13 and up have the possibility to play for a National Championship. 

The league operates the ECNL-RL, VA NPL, Virginia State Cup and U23 Summer League
